Description
Methi (میتھی), also known as fenugreek, is a popular herb and spice commonly used in South Asian cuisine. Both its leaves and seeds are edible. The leaves (known as methi leaves) are aromatic and have a slightly bitter taste, often used fresh in curries, parathas, and dals. The seeds are small, yellow-brown, and have a stronger, more pungent flavor. Methi seeds are often ground into powder or used whole in spice blends, especially for pickles, curries, and masalas.
Methi is known for its health benefits, including promoting digestion, controlling blood sugar levels, and supporting lactation in nursing mothers. It’s also rich in iron, fiber, and antioxidants.
